the first thing displayed in my musuem is propaganda. this piece of propaganda is acutally for a presidential race. the race was in 1900 and the two running were mckinley and bryan. you can tell by this propaganda the people liked mckinley. he is placed on a gold coin, as to say he were the *gold standard* and he is being held up by all types of different workers. if you were to zoom in, you would see a soldier, a farmer, a businessman, etc... he was said to "restore prosperity at home and victory abroad." as i said this was during the 1900 presidential race so it came out in the time of the new imperialism. this is a grand example of the new imperialism because the whole point was to be awesome in the eyes of other countries. the reason this is a credible primary souce is that, though the site has an agenda, they people who set up the site have other links telling the same information over and over again. historians have to double check all their information and only then can they take the material as true. i do not believe that the public can edit any information on the site, it is all controlled by the owners.
another thing on display in my musuem is a photograph of the titanic before setting sail. the titanic set sail on august 2, 1912 to go to new york. this was the largest ship ever built at this time and people were quoted saying things like *even god could not sink this ship.* to imagine how they must have felt when they hit an iceberg and started to go down. the titanic is such an awesome example of how people were thinking during the new imperialism! the new imperialism * so you can def see why such a ginormous boat fits in my museum. (: this picture comes from a teacher's pdf on the titanic. she has listed all her sources for everything she has used, therefore i believe it to be creditable. (please ignore the link on the picture, use instead the link on *pdf*)from a world history perspective, the most noticeable trend in the history of the late 19th century was the domination of Europeans over NonEuropeans.*
the next exhibit in the museum is a painting from 1890 of a woman by the sea. this demonstrates the new imperialism in a couple of ways. the big thing that caught my eye and pretty much shouted new imperialism to me was this depicts the way women were to present themselves in public. during the new imperialism europeans thought themselves superior to other places that were less developed. the femininity the lady is truly beautiful. (the link to the picture is what i used for my blurb.) this picture is from the philidelphia museum of art. not only is the museum already creditable, but i also looked for the *.org* which everyone knows can be trusted with less speculation.
