WHAT IS THE NEW IMPERIALISM??

"Imperialism: the domination by one country of the political, economic, or cultural life of another country or region" (from the book, page 316). The New Imperialism was caused by greed, people wanted more resources to make more money and to get these resources there was a need to own more land. Imperialism was not born in the 1800s, but was more influential. With all the new technologies it was easier to conquer lands off the coast of Africa, or any contentent for that matter, and make money off of the land that already had owners. The New Imperialism caused many major events in history, such as the Massacre of the Armenians, in which about a million Armenians were killed, and the Sepoy Rebellion, where the Indian troops rose up against the brits for not being considerate of their traditons. Good things also came out of the New Imperialism such as the discovery of oil in Iran and Japan's modernization. (:
